September 2019 Meeting – VR Training in Healthcare

Register for the September 12th meeting.

As we continue to explore the Netflix documentary series “Liquid Science”, our September 12th meeting will highlight Evolving Technology’s Impact on Healthcare. We will demo a software in Oculus Virtual Reality (VR) simulations for nursing students and future care providers. Joliet Junior College (JJC) is the only community college in Illinois to have Embodied Labs empathy training VR. The VR software allows healthcare professionals to experience empathy for those with significant challenges such as hearing loss, vision loss, Alzheimer’s and cancer. It can also simulate scenarios related to a terminal illness, from diagnosis to final days of life. Please join us in an interactive and hands-on discussion on technology and how it will shape the future of medicine and IT careers!

Featured in this meeting will be Cameron Courter, a technologist for Joliet Junior College (JJC) in Multi-Media Programming. Cameron will lead a discussion and hands-on demo of one of the units used in the education of Nursing students at JJC.
