June 2026 Meeting – AI for People with Visual Disabilities

Join us on Thursday, June 19 as Patrice Johnson, Librarian and Assistant Manager at the Chicago Public Library, highlights both the Assistive Resources and Talking Books Center’s (ARTBC) services and its workshops on AI for Visual Disabilities. She will introduce how AI tools can support productivity and independence for individuals experiencing vision loss, and explain how ARTBC connects patrons with accessible books, technology, and assistive equipment.

Learn how AI can help people with visual disabilities navigate daily tasks such as reading text, identifying objects and surroundings, remembering information, and writing messages — while also benefiting from ARTBC’s specialized services, including braille and audio materials, adaptive technology workstations, and support from trained library staff.

Patrice oversees daily operations, staff development, and library programming that ensure the library remains a welcoming, resource‑rich hub for our Chicago community. She is passionate about equity in information access and the vital role libraries play in building stronger, more connected communities.
